Why do recorded podcasts never get published?

Recording a good conversation is the easy part. Editing an hour of two-camera video is a job nobody in a small firm has time for, so it sits on a laptop or goes out raw, out of sync and with no clips.

When it does go out, it goes out raw: one wide shot, sound slipping out of sync by the end, no clips. The people who would like it never find it.

The work is in the pipeline - a clean edit, a branded picture, sound that stays in sync for the whole hour, and short clips that send people to the episode.

02

Should you upload a podcast raw, hire an editor or use a production service?

Uploading raw means no edit and sound that drifts. A freelance editor often charges extra for clips. Podcast Production cuts on a written pipeline, in branded 4K, with four vertical clips, lip sync checked and a run sheet ready.

Is video podcast production right for your business?

Podcast Production suits a business that can record a conversation on video, even remotely, plans to make more than one and wants clips for social media. It is the wrong buy for audio only, or if you need it the same day.

A good fit if

  • You can record a conversation on video, even remotely
  • You plan to make more than one
  • You want clips for social media, not just a long upload

Not for you if

  • You only have audio - this is a video product
  • You want weekly live streams
  • You need it out the same day

One recording turned into a branded 4K YouTube episode, four short vertical clips with covers and captions, and a run sheet for the next one. The edit covers both speakers, your title card, name bars, music and a lip-sync check across the whole episode. The recording itself is yours; we send the settings to use. The honest note: we have produced one full episode, for GigXchange, so the price may move once more are done.

The price assumes an episode of about an hour or less; our own runs to 50 minutes. Longer is fine but takes longer to render - a 50-minute episode in 4K takes about 15 hours on our machine - so a much longer recording is quoted before we start. Shorter episodes cost the same, because most of the work is the set-up, the sync and the clips, not the minutes.

Two people on camera with decent sound, recorded on separate tracks so each voice and picture can be cut on its own. We recorded the GigXchange episode in Riverside at 4K, 30 frames a second and 48 kHz sound, and we send you those settings and a recording checklist. Remote recording works. A phone on a stand with a clip-on microphone beats a laptop webcam and its built-in mic.

Because separately recorded sound and picture drift apart slowly, and the drift only shows halfway through. On our first episode the sound was fine at the start and 43 milliseconds out by minute 22 - enough to see. We now realign the sound every 45 seconds across the episode and spot-check it six ways before the long render. Nobody notices good sync. Everyone notices bad sync.

We propose the moments and you choose. For the GigXchange episode I marked six candidates with timecodes, picked the strongest, and one that was built in full still got parked because it was not good enough. Each clip is one continuous stretch of talk, never two bits spliced together, because a jump cut on a talking head looks like an edit made to hide something.

The 4K episode is made for YouTube, and the clips for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok. We hand over the files, and can upload them to your channel as private or scheduled videos for you to publish. Clips work best linked to the full episode, so someone who liked 30 seconds can find the 50 minutes. To feature customers without a recording at all, see the Customer Story Series.

Yes - it is priced per episode, with no subscription and no minimum. The run sheet is there so the second recording goes better than the first, but there is no commitment to make one. A single episode is a fair test of whether the format suits you and your guests. If you would rather have a steady run of posts than episodes, the Social Content Retainer is the monthly option.

Music comes from a library licensed for commercial use, and we check the licence covers your channel before a track goes in. Your guest has to agree to be recorded and published, so the run sheet includes a short consent line they say yes to at the start of the recording. We keep that moment in the raw files, so there is a record if anyone ever asks.
