Why do small business social media feeds go quiet?

Most small firms post in bursts, then nothing for a month. Paying a designer per post is slow and dear, and doing it yourself means every post looks a little different, so nobody learns to recognise them.

Paying a designer per post is slow and dear. Doing it yourself means every post looks a little different - a new font, new colours, a new idea of what the brand is.

What works is a system: fixed templates in your brand, a plan for the month, and posts that come out the same shape every time so people learn to recognise them.

02

Should you post yourself, hire a freelancer or use a retainer?

Doing it yourself takes hours a week and the look changes post to post. A freelancer needs briefing and chasing. The Social Content Retainer uses templates built from your brand, with captions written for each channel and one planning call.

What do you get each month with the Social Content Retainer?

The Social Content Retainer gives you a brand setup once, then each month 4 six-slide carousels, 8 statement posts, every post sized and captioned for each channel, reel covers, a posting plan and full-size masters to keep.

  1. 01

    Brand setup

Your fonts, colours, logo and end card built into the templates once, so every post matches.

  2. 02

    4 carousels a month

Six-slide swipe posts that each explain one thing you do - a service, a how-to, a before and after.

  3. 03

    8 statement posts a month

One photo, one line, three slides. The quick posts that keep the feed alive between carousels.

  4. 04

    Cut for every channel

Each post sized and captioned for Instagram, LinkedIn and X - not one caption pasted three times.

  5. 05

    Reel covers

A cover image for each video you post that month, in the same style as everything else.

  6. 06

    A posting plan

What goes out when, with each caption ready to paste.

  7. 07

    Your files, kept

Full-size masters of every slide, yours to keep if you stop.

What is in a month's folder of posts?

A Social Content Retainer month arrives as one folder: each carousel's slides at 1080x1350 with separate Instagram and LinkedIn captions, each statement post in three channel sizes, reel covers and a posting plan.

You get four carousels and eight statement posts a month, each sized and captioned for Instagram, LinkedIn and X, plus a cover for any video you post. A carousel is a six-slide swipe post; a statement post is one photo and one line across three slides. Every post comes with captions written for each channel and full-size master files you keep. If you want short video case studies too, the Customer Story Series adds them per reel.

Yes, if you want - or we hand over a folder with every slide and caption ready to paste. Many owners prefer to post themselves so replies come from them. We never ask for your password: where a platform lets you add a helper to your account, we use that, and where it does not, you post from the folder. We do not answer comments or messages. Your customers are talking to you, and that should stay with you.

They look like your brand, because the template is built from it. In the first week we put your fonts, colours, logo and end card into the engine, so every post comes out of the same family. The honest part: today our engines run in the GigXchange look, and switching them to a client brand is set up by hand. That is the work in days 1-2, and it is why the first posts take 7 days rather than 2.

Your own photos first - your work, your team, your premises - because they are what make a post believable. Where you are short, we use stock photos licensed for commercial posting and tell you which is which. Phone photos are fine; we crop and grade them so they sit together. We never use AI-made pictures of your products or customers, because a post showing something that never happened is a claim you cannot back up.

A social media manager runs your accounts day to day - replies, comments, trends, often ads. This is the making part only: a set number of finished posts a month on a fixed system, at a fixed price. It suits owners who are happy to post and reply themselves but never have the posts ready. If you want to be found outside social media too, AI Search Readiness gets your site read and quoted by Google and AI assistants.

Yes, any month, with no exit fee. The posts already made are yours, along with the master files and captions. Your brand templates stay on our side, so you can come back without paying for setup again. There is no minimum term, but the first month carries the brand setup, so the second and third months are the fairer test of whether the feed is working for you.

You say so before it goes out, and we change it. Every post comes to you for approval first, and nothing is published without a yes. Changing the words or the photo is part of the price; if you reject a whole idea, we swap in another from the plan. The fixed templates mean fewer surprises. You see the shape in week one, and after that you are mostly checking words, not design.

A carousel takes about 15 minutes on our engine and a reel cover about a minute, which is how the price stays at £199 a month. The time goes into the idea and the words, not into moving boxes around in a design app - rendering all six slides of a carousel takes under a minute. If a post ever takes an hour, something in the system is wrong, and we fix the system rather than bill you for the hour.
