AI Assistant Connector: let ChatGPT and Claude check your prices
The AI Assistant Connector is a read-only service that lets ChatGPT and Claude look up your services, prices and availability live, with at most 25 rows per answer and an off switch. From £999 to build, then £29 a month. Live in 10 working days.
Where does ChatGPT get its information about my business?
ChatGPT and Claude answer from whatever they last read on the web about a business like yours: prices from an old page, hours from a directory, and availability they simply make up.
A connector changes that. It is a small, safe service (built on the Model Context Protocol, or MCP, the open standard both assistants use) that lets the assistant ask your business directly and get today's answer.
Very few UK small firms have one yet. Building it properly takes care - what it may show, how much per answer, how to switch it off - and that care is the part I have already done once, live, on GigXchange.
Is a connector better than a chatbot on my website?
The AI Assistant Connector answers inside ChatGPT and Claude, wherever the question is asked, from your own live, approved facts. A chatbot on your website only reaches people already on your site, and doing nothing leaves the assistant guessing.
| Do nothing | A chatbot on your website | AI Assistant Connector | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What the assistant sees | Whatever it finds on the web | Only visitors on your site | Your own live, approved facts |
| How current | Weeks or months old | Current | Live, every time |
| Prices and availability | Guessed or missing | If you wire them in | Yes, read-only |
| Who controls it | Nobody | You | You, with an off switch |
| Listed in directories | No | No - it lives on your site only | Submitted to the official registry and Claude's directory |
What do you get with the AI Assistant Connector?
The AI Assistant Connector gives you a read-only connector, a list of safe fields every answer passes through, caps and daily limits, an off switch, directory submissions, a public "use us in ChatGPT and Claude" page, and hosting and upkeep.
- 01
A read-only connector
Your services, prices, areas, hours, FAQs and availability, readable by ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants that support connectors.
- 02
A field allowlist
Every answer passes through an explicit list of safe fields. If a visitor can't see it on your website, the connector can't show it.
- 03
Caps and limits
At most 25 rows per answer and daily limits, so nobody can copy your whole catalogue through it.
- 04
An off switch
One setting turns the connector off in seconds, no rebuild needed.
- 05
Directory submissions
Submitted to the official MCP Registry and Claude's connector directory, with the listing copy written for you.
- 06
A public "use us in ChatGPT and Claude" page
What it does, how to add it, sample questions - linked from your site and your llms.txt.
- 07
Hosting and upkeep
The £29 a month covers hosting, keeping it working as the assistants change, and a monthly health check.
What can an AI assistant look up through the connector?
The AI Assistant Connector gives an assistant a short set of tools it can call, such as list_services, get_prices by area and check_availability for the next 14 days. Every answer is capped at 25 rows. Here is a sample.
mcp.yourfirm.co.uk
- list_services
- get_service - "boiler service"
- get_prices - by area
- check_availability - next 14 days
- list_areas_covered
- get_opening_hours
- search_faq - "do you charge call-out"
- get_contact_route
- Row cap: 25 per answer
- Kill switch: on, flips off in seconds
- 39tools in the GigXchange connector
- 23public tools, no sign-in needed
- 25row cap on every list answer
- 2directories it is listed in: MCP Registry and Claude's

How long does it take to build an AI assistant connector?
The AI Assistant Connector goes live in ten working days: two to agree which facts to share, four to build it, two to test every tool in ChatGPT and Claude, and two to launch it and send the directory submissions.
- 01
Days 1-2
Scope
We list the facts worth exposing and the source each one comes from. You approve the field list.
- 02
Days 3-6
Build
The connector, its allowlist, caps, limits and off switch, wired to your data.
- 03
Days 7-8
Test
Every tool tried live in ChatGPT and Claude, plus tests that forbidden fields never appear.
- 04
Days 9-10
Launch
Switched on, the public page published, directory submissions sent.
Is an AI assistant connector right for my business?
The AI Assistant Connector suits a business whose customers ask about prices, stock or availability before they call, with its facts in a booking system, price list or spreadsheet. It is the wrong fit if every price is "call for a quote".
A good fit if
- Customers ask about your prices, stock or availability before they call
- Your facts live somewhere structured: a booking system, a price list, a spreadsheet
- You want to be early in a channel your rivals haven't touched
Not for you if
- Your prices are always "call for a quote" with nothing to share
- You want the assistant to take payments - that is a custom quote
- Your facts change daily and nobody keeps them current

It is £999 to build and launch, then £29 a month for hosting and upkeep. The build covers scoping your facts, the read-only connector with its field allowlist, caps and off switch, live testing in ChatGPT and Claude, a public page explaining it, and the directory submissions. The monthly fee keeps it hosted, updated as the assistants change, and health-checked. Bookings or payments through the assistant are quoted separately.
A connector is a small service that lets an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude look up information from your business directly, while it is answering someone. Both assistants support the same open standard for this, the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Instead of guessing your prices from an old page, the assistant asks your connector and gets today's answer. The person using the assistant adds it once, or finds it in a directory.
It is built so it can only show what a visitor to your public website can already see. Every answer passes through a list of allowed fields, and anything not on that list - customer names, emails, internal notes - can't appear, which tests check before every release. It is read-only, caps each answer at 25 rows, has daily limits, and an off switch. If personal data is ever involved, the GDPR Compliance Kit covers the paperwork.
Some will, and the number is small today and growing. People find connectors three ways: the directories (we submit to the official MCP Registry and Claude's connector directory), a link on your own site, and your llms.txt file, which tells AI systems it exists. I won't promise volumes. What you get is a live, accurate answer in a place almost none of your rivals are yet.
No usage charges - the assistant does the thinking, on its own bill, not yours. Your connector only hands over facts, which is cheap to run, and repeated identical questions are answered from a cache. That is why hosting is a flat £29 a month. GigXchange's connector works the same way: it pays nothing for the AI side, because the user's own assistant supplies it.
Not in this package - it is read-only, on purpose. Letting an assistant act for someone needs proper sign-in, a clear "yes" from the person before every action, and logging, which GigXchange's connector does for its members. It is real work and the risks are different, so it is quoted separately once the read-only version has proved useful. Most firms find live prices and availability do the heavy lifting.
Whatever you want assistants to be able to read: your services, prices, areas, hours, FAQs and, if you have one, a feed or sheet of availability. A spreadsheet is fine; a booking system with an export is better. We agree the exact field list together on day one, and nothing outside it is ever exposed. We don't need customer records at all.
An llms.txt file is a static summary an AI system may read when it crawls your site; a connector answers live, every time it is asked. The file is cheap and every site should have one - it comes with AI Search Readiness. The connector is for businesses where the answer changes: prices by area, today's availability, what is in stock. The file also points assistants at the connector.
